ICT have a vacancy for an ICT Support Engineer

Reporting to the ICT Support Team Leader

As an ICT Support Engineer you will be a vital part of the ICT Operations Team supporting the Constabulary’s desktop and mobile estate and ensuring that vital business software is highly available to staff and officers.

Key Responsibilities will include:

Providing technical support via the ICT Service Desk, ensuring fault calls and requests for help and advice are resolved and actioned within agreed time limits.

Supporting software systems running on central servers and client machines providing flexible assistance in computer software and hardware issues.

Carry out daily housekeeping, routine system administration, and data processing functions, documenting of procedures, communicating with suppliers and subject to instruction, the installation of new software to ensure the efficient running of the systems.

Provide 1st and 2nd line support and technical advice on hardware and software issues, drawing on support experience to include complete desktop and mobile equipment installations as well as carrying out the repair, installation and relocation of hardware and software

Update records of Constabulary assets in a centralised database to ensure changes carried out as part of support procedures are accurately reflected

On a rota basis work at remote locations providing a local support service to users based there

The successful candidate must have the following skills and experiences:

- HND or Degree in an IT related discipline or relevant IT experience gained in employment.

- Minimum 2 years 2nd or 3rd line support experience in a Windows environment.

- Minimum of 1 years’ experience of hardware (desktop/ server/laptop) fault finding and fault resolution.

- Experience of complete desktop and mobile equipment installations, diagnostics, repair and re-imaging

- Customer Service Qualification or 2 years’ experience within customer service environment

- ITIL foundation certificate in Service Management.

- Car Owner with Full Driving Licence

- Must be physically fit to move equipment

- Respect for confidentiality

- Good communication skills (written and spoken)

- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision even when under pressure

- Self-motivated and well organised

- Excellent interpersonal skills

- Required to participate in an on-call rota including occasional weekend working.
