British Airways is looking for a graduate to be based at Heathrow with strong analytical abilities to influence commercial decision-making on London Gatwick routes.

Charged with driving our London Gatwick business forward, the Gatwick Commercial department has a crucial role to play, with responsibilities for Revenue Management (seat pricing and availability), Marketing, Sales and Network Planning decisions.

You’ll be part of a small analytics team within this department, which delivers insights through data analysis on both short-term and long-term issues, driving informed debate and effective decision-making across the department. You’ll evaluate the impact of everything from pricing trials and advertising campaigns, to potential schedule changes. You’ll also highlight risks, issues and opportunities to support our regular performance monitoring process. In addition, you’ll help us understand who our customers are and what and how they buy from us, to make sure everything we do is customer-focused. The work is mainly project-based, but with some regular reporting on revenue performance.

Recent examples of work have been:

- Supporting evaluations of potential new routes by analyzing customer profiles, to identify what type of customers would be most likely to fly on the new route and how many customers we could expect to attract.

- Analysing travel agent sales performances to identify issues and opportunities.

- Evaluating marketing campaigns to determine the impact of advertising on levels of flight bookings.

This is not a graduate programme, but an entry level position with a structured induction and training programme to support your development. The breadth of business areas touched in the role means that you will gain knowledge of the workings of the whole commercial side of an airline on a small scale.

To make this exciting role your own, you’ll need a degree in a numerical/quantitative discipline (e.g. Maths, Sciences, Engineering), As well as strong analytical abilities, you’ll need the ability to convey thoughts and ideas clearly and persuasively, demonstrate good time planning skills and show that you can work well together in a team.
