Our client specialise in delivering a software as a service (SaaS) solution to the education sector

and is the market leader in their core market This is a rare opportunity to play an active role in a truly exciting and progressive company.

The role is suitable for a web developer with some work experience who is looking to work in a

growing company and who wants to be involved in a variety of development aspects.

In particular you will be responsible for managing the development and deployment of solutions for

clients as well as being actively involved in designing and developing new features. Experience in a commercial setting is essential.

The initial role would be a mix of application configuration (the system is heavily customised),

development and client engagement. This will involve working with developers, testers, directors and clients, so excellent communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities:

- Manage the workflow of configuration requests from clients, using Trello

- Liaise with clients to clarify their requirements and to manage their expectations for delivery

- Implement configuration changes in development, test and production

- Identify opportunities for improving the configuration process

- Take user stories from idea to implementation

- Assist in prioritization of user stories / tasks.

- Develop components using the MVC architectural pattern

- Share the management of the Zendesk service desk.

- Triage incoming calls, allocating to others as appropriate.

- Apply rigor to the recording of changes, especially those that clients are directly requesting

- Contribute ideas to the continual development of new products

- Create storyboards of new features to aid client and colleague visualization.

Essential Experience:

- Proven ability in OO design

- Experience of planning and designing software features.

- Experience working on software projects as part of a team.

- Microsoft technologies - C#, .NET, ASP.NET MVC

- Relational databases: Microsoft SQL Server 2012, relational database analysis and design; T-SQL

- HTML/CSS skills

- Javascript, JQuery

Useful but not essential experience:

- Web services: any experience creating and/or consuming RESTful or SOAP services

- Mobile content: any experience creating mobile web applications would be useful.

- Database design: experience of logical and physical database design.

- Source control software: experience of any code management

Character & personal qualities

- Experience working within a small team, sometimes working on your own

- Ability to understand logical concepts, and to be able to describe them to others clearly

- Ability to methodically work on multiple, possibly similar tasks at once

- Desire to ‘do it correctly’ and not to cut corners

- An agile attitude to working, where your focus may regularly change to meet new requirements

- An expectation to grow with the company, learning from your colleagues

- Comfortable working with very experienced individuals

Nice to have:

- Live within easy commuting distance of Twickenham (all developers live within cycling distance)

- Exposure to any Agile practices such as Scrum, Kanban, Sprints, User Stories.
