Help us get the best from SharePoint and champion its use across our organisation.

At the UK Hydrographic Office, we produce nautical publications and services for the Royal Navy and merchant shipping. Join us, and help us to be the world’s best provider of hydrographic data services.

There’s increasing demand for collaborative technologies across our organisation and we’re working with third-party developers to deliver them across multiple project streams. You’ll join a growing team focused on strategic SharePoint solutions and the support of operational SharePoint services. We use the platform for both internal and external web-based publishing, collaboration and information management tasks.

As a SharePoint Developer, your focus will be on providing support and guidance to internal and external customers. An expert in ‘the art of how’, you’ll ensure we make the best possible use of our investment in this versatile platform. That means delivering new requirements and changes to the system, as well as supporting live issues. You’ll ensure that service level agreements for time, quality and cost are met or exceeded by our technical delivery. Last but not last, as a SharePoint champion, you’ll support site-wide SharePoint adoption.

Experience in the development and administration of SharePoint (2010, 2013 Server and SharePoint Online) is essential. You should also have practical knowledge of .NET, C#, JavaScript and PowerShell. Analytical and creative, you’ll also be a pragmatic problem-solver with excellent written and spoken communications skills. We’re looking for someone who can produce formal technical specifications and who is proficient in the use of Microsoft Office client tools. Knowledge of formal project management methodologies such as PRINCE 2, MSP, ITIL or SCRUM is also vital.

This is a Ministry of Defence non-reserved post for which applicants must be British citizens, citizens of the Irish Republic, a Commonwealth state or EEA nations. Successful applicants will require NSV security clearance; therefore will need to have resided in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
