Test Analyst (FundsLibrary)

Summary:

The role will require a self-motivated, pro-active individual who will work on a range of internal and client focused solutions, developing and executing both manual and automated tests.

You will need to ensure requirements are met, existing functionality is unaffected and bugs found are resolved prior to a live release.

The Test Analyst should have a keen eye for detail, be exceptional at identifying inconsistencies and flaws and will be given the opportunity and responsibility to develop testing skills and be involved in planning, writing test artefacts.

You will also be involved with prioritising testing activities and designing test scenarios for both web and responsive sites ensuring all bugs and issues are well documented and tracked to resolution in the bug tracking system.

You should also maintain consistent communication with the Test Manager, Business Analysts, Project Management and other stakeholders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Be involved in providing continuous feedback throughout the project lifecycle

Review requirements and provide feedback to the project team and business analysts

Creation and execution of test plans, manual test cases and other relevant test artefacts

Work with test manager and project team to plan and prioritise testing activities

Design, develop and execute automation scripts using open source tools with an awareness of what and when to automate to ensure sufficient coverage and robust tests

Identify, record and track bugs through to resolution ensuring key issues are managed or escalated as required

Provide progress reports to the test manager and the internal stakeholders

Essential Skills and Attributes:

Good A Levels

Competent computer user; proficient with Microsoft Office particularly Excel

Good knowledge of financial products

An understanding of the role of software testing as part of the software development lifecycle and general testing principles

Black box testing

2+ years testing experience

Experience of Manual testing

Knowledge of automated testing

Creation of test artefacts from business documentation

Logging defects using a tracking tool, managing defects through to resolution

Working to project deadlines and time constraints

Excellent communicator, able to speak with both technical and non-technical colleagues

Excellent written and numeracy skills

Outstanding attention to detail

Highly organised and methodical

Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines whilst juggling multiple tasks

Ability to use initiative and work independently or in a team

Solve problems and think independently with an enquiring mind

Customer focused vision

Ability to work in a high pressure environment

Able to work as a member of the team whilst meeting individual and team targets

Desirable Skills and Attributes:

Excellent A Levels

IT related degree

Extensive knowledge of financial markets and in particular mutual funds

An understanding of the benefits in using a tracking tool to document and log testing

Understanding of the page objects design pattern for automated testing

Knowledge of exploratory testing practices

Good knowledge of TDD and BDD

Experience of automated testing script creation

Creation of scripts using C# and selenium or similar

Holding positions of responsibility (work or non-work)

Testing of responsive websites, cross browser and device

Experience of working within waterfall and agile environments

Experience with versioning systems and continuously integrated environments

Willingness to teach and mentor junior team members

Able to contribute towards business efficiency and development of testing team processes

Flexible and adaptable to changing requirements

Understanding of client confidentiality

Acts as an example to other employees

Positive approach to work and personal development
