The Senior Insight Analyst role is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to join Tesco Mobile and to take ownership of some of our strategic analytics projects. You will grow and develop as an analyst, answering a wide variety of complex business questions with our incredibly rich customer data and using a range of the latest technologies.

The Insight & Analytics team functions across the entire business, from marketing to finance, operations and customer care, so no two days are ever the same. Whatever you are working on, you will be able to have a direct impact on the business by providing the data and insight that helps us serve our customers a little better every day.

The Role

-You will use the wealth of data that we hold on our customers to provide insightful, actionable analysis & recommendations to your designated business areas within Tesco Mobile.

-You will build strong relationships with your business partners and help them understand how to extract the most value from their data.

-You will take the lead on advanced analytics projects that will help to shape the future of Tesco Mobile, collaborating with stakeholders to define requirements and applying your technical skills to deliver them.

Candidate profile

Essential

-Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Ideally a Masters degree in a numerate discipline, a solid understanding of statistical methods and 3+ years working in an advanced analytics role.

-Highly experienced in building effective statistical models on customer data (e.g. churn, CLV, propensity modelling, segmentation, forecasting) using R, Python or similar.

-Solid understanding of statistical modelling techniques e.g. regression, clustering, decision trees, optimisation, time series analysis, etc.

-End-to-end data science/machine learning project lifecycle experience preferred.

-Very strong SQL coding skills (T-SQL and Teradata) and advanced Excel knowledge.

-Experience of manipulating large quantities of high-dimensional data, and navigating through unfamiliar (and sometimes messy) data sources. Ability to extract, clean and explore data from a variety of sources and ensure high levels of data quality.

-Ability to visualise data (R, Python, Tableau or similar) to translate complex analysis into compelling and actionable insights.

-Ability to communicate clearly and confidently at all levels of the organisation.

-A willingness and ability to pick up new tools and techniques quickly is essential.

-Ability to quickly gain knowledge of Tesco Mobile and understand the business. Previous experience of the telecoms industry would be a significant advantage.

-Ability to mentor junior members of the team.

Desirable

-Big data experience (Hadoop, Spark) would be preferred.

-Experience of managing a small team of analysts would be preferred.

-Telecoms industry experience preferred would be preferred.
