With innovative visions and expert leadership,

You’ll shape the future of nuclear.

The challenge

A fast-evolving public corporation, the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is committed to shaping the future of regulation in the UK nuclear industry. We’re making some innovative and wide-reaching changes to the very ways in which we work, and we need future-facing individuals to help us achieve our visions.

The role

With demonstrable change management experience, you’ll join us at a time of major innovation. In this senior role, you’ll lead a brand-new department and oversee wide-reaching initiatives that’ll help to hugely improve our business. You’ll shape the future of projects that’ll impact our people, our processes and our initiatives - future-proofing our capability in a complex, ever-evolving industry.

As an outstanding Head of Programme Management Office, you’ll instil confidence in stakeholders and develop a change life cycle - showing how projects will be delivered in a timely manner. It’s about inspiring and leading a team to create a future-facing business.

The person

To join us, you’ll need strong programme management experience. You’ll have successfully led a significant project delivery initiative, and be committed to delivering business improvements. We’ll expect you to have relevant project delivery qualifications (e.g P30 practitioner, MSP, Management of Portfolios). Ideally, you’ll also have experience in a regulatory environment and relevant professional accreditations, such as full membership of APM (MAPM).

Above all, you’ll be positive and determined to face any challenge. In fact, your passion will be infectious. With outstanding interpersonal skills, you’ll foster influential relationships, work across departments and unite a new team.

The rewards

We offer competitive salaries at the ONR, with this role attracting a salary of £61,212 - £69,895. Furthermore, you’ll be eligible for an incredibly substantial Civil Service Pension scheme (including ill-health retirement and lump sum family benefits). Plus, you’ll receive a very generous holiday entitlement.

About us

ONR is a Public Corporation with a mission to ensure the highest standards of safety and security across all of the UK’s licensed nuclear sites. Our staff are drawn from a wide range of professional backgrounds in order to run a stand-alone business. There are specialist inspectors working in core functions including: civil engineering, radiological protection, human factors, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering and nuclear physics. And, together, they’re involved in everything from assessing safety cases, inspecting nuclear sites and communicating our decisions, to training new recruits and representing the UK and ONR within the wider, international nuclear community.
