A one-of-a-kind role.

With a unique mission.

The challenge

A fast-evolving public corporation, the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is committed to shaping the future of regulation in the UK nuclear industry. We’re making some innovative and wide-reaching changes to the very ways in which we work, and we need future-facing individuals to help us achieve our visions.

The role

This is a truly unique, one-of-a-kind role that’ll see you shaping our future application landscape. We’re preparing to become the keepers of our own data, which is all part of a wider strategic improvement project throughout ONR. You’ll bring your data expertise to our growing IT team, helping our finance department to consolidate data and create a data warehouse moving us to a future-proofed system.

Much of the role will see you making sense of our technical database landscape, taking responsibility for projects and developing new data architecture. It’s a crucial role. In fact, you’ll become the go-to individual when it comes to data. .

The person

This is a highly technical role, so it’s essential you have experience of working with SQL servers, Oracle SQL scripting and Microsoft Office 365. We’ll also expect you to have knowledge of data warehouse architecture setup, and to be confident delivering this independently.

With a collaborative ethos, you’ll proactively work across the business to find the best solutions. In fact, thanks to your excellent communication skills, you’ll discover exactly what the business needs and translate technical jargon effectively. As a natural problem solver, you’ll thrive under pressure and enjoy working within a fast-paced environment.

The rewards

We offer competitive salaries at the ONR, with this role attracting a salary of £49,946 - £57,199. Furthermore, you’ll be eligible for an incredibly substantial Civil Service Pension scheme (including ill-health retirement and lump sum family benefits). Plus, you’ll receive a very generous holiday entitlement.

About us

ONR is a Public Corporation with a mission to ensure the highest standards of safety and security across all of the UK’s licensed nuclear sites. Our staff are drawn from a wide range of professional backgrounds in order to run a stand-alone business. There are specialist inspectors working in core functions including: civil engineering, radiological protection, human factors, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering and nuclear physics. And, together, they’re involved in everything from assessing safety cases, inspecting nuclear sites and communicating our decisions, to training new recruits and representing the UK and ONR within the wider, international nuclear community.
