The Role

As an IT Project Manager in Network Rail, you will need project management experience within complex IT projects. You will have excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to develop strong relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues. In conjunction with this, you will have a formal project management qualification and be proficient in project management tools and methodologies.

You will be able to evidence a strong track record in delivery of IT solutions via third party suppliers, through influence and assurance. Robust financial and commercial acumen are skills will look for in order to drive the best value and efficiency from our suppliers. You will be able to demonstrate the necessary soft skills to manage any potential conflicts during the delivery lifecycle of the programme, forging relationships with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders, managing project finances, change control and progress reporting are all key aspects of this rewarding role.

The role of our IT Project Managers is to lead the delivery of projects within our portfolios. We are particularly interested in experience in the following areas:

- Application Development or Enhancement

- IT Infrastructure

- Project Assurance

- Support for Business Process Change

- Business Programmes

You will be based at the Quadrant located close to Milton Keynes’ central station. The Quadrant is a striking complex that unites over 3,000 people under one roof with facilities including shops, restaurants, outdoor eating area, and an employee gym with showers. IT and Business Services, which are part of Route Services are delivering services that are vital to the running of the railway, deliver the provision of services agreed by the routes to allow them to benefit from economies of scale and the optimisation of our critical resources. Every year we buy and deliver 2,000km of rail and 2.5 million tonnes of ballast and operate 1200 rail vehicles. Behind the scenes we process £7bn of payments, handle over 23,000 IT helpdesk calls and make sure everyone's wages are paid on time.
