Want to help make London a safer place - and work with a broad range of technologies? Join the Met Police as a Development Engineer. By tackling some of our most specialised projects and issues, you’ll be playing your part in our fight against crime.
This is a great opportunity to join either our Development or Implementation team. Day-to-day, you’ll create niche solutions for business issues relating to our more specialist areas. Using a variety of techniques, you’ll turn requirements and designs into fully functional products. This could involve modelling, prototyping, producing code and conducting test and acceptance, depending on your role. You’ll work in a secure environment and create supporting documentation. Once systems go live, you’ll keep them up and running by fixing faults on-site. Expect plenty of variety, an on-call rota plus the chance to learn and train.
Both roles call for an IT or Engineering qualification (BTEC level or above). You’ll also need hands-on experience of maintaining live IT systems. Perhaps you’ve worked in IT support or for a technology company. Whatever your background, you’ll pride yourself on hitting the highest standards. Please note that the Development team role mostly involves programming. You must therefore be fluent in one or more programming languages. Knowledge of SQL would definitely be an advantage.
