We are looking for engineering candidates to fill a number of roles within our Ships Domain, working within either our engineering or logistics functions.

DE&S manage complex projects that equip and support the UK’s Armed Forces.

We are headquartered in Bristol and employ around 11,500 staff. Over the next ten years we will deliver an equipment and support programme of approximately £157 billion to the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force.

You could be supporting project delivery of equipment and services across any of our business areas - Land, Maritime, Air, Joint Enablers or Corporate functions. Projects could be as diverse as developing the nation’s future submarines, the procurement of fast jets or armoured vehicles and managing the delivery of food, vehicles and clothing to where they are needed.

As part of this role you will:

- Engage, influence and manage both internal and external stakeholders at all levels. This could be internal DE&S Project teams, finance or business representatives, as well as external suppliers, you will ensure this engagement is tailored to the correct level

- Support with the preparation and maintenance of project schedules and activities / events ensuring all dependencies and requirements are taken into account to support the effective delivery of tasks.

- Support Project Managers in consolidating and documenting the fundamental components of projects (scope, schedule, resource requirements, budgets, risks, opportunities and issues, and quality requirements)

- Develop, implement and update resource allocation plans (including Finance) needed for projects considering availability and priorities

- Develop and agree budgets for projects, control forecasts and actual spend

- Identify record and monitor project risks, threats and opportunities, plan and implement responses ensuring impact on project activities are identified. Where these cannot be resolved, escalate as appropriate

- Implement and maintain project governance, managing reviews at appropriate points during and after the project lifecycle, conducting evaluations.

- Apply project management methodologies at all times and establish / implement changes to scope including project documentation as required.

To be considered for this role you will have experience in:

- Developing strong stakeholder relationships, managing senior staff in sometimes difficult situations

- Developing and managing small teams to deliver successful outcomes

- An aptitude for working within a highly structured and controlled working environment

- Woking to strict timelines with the foresight to prioritise and manage multiple activities concurrently

- Experience of working in an organisational environment of transformation and on-going change would be beneficial
