Responsibilities

- We're looking for an enthusiastic mid or senior level engineer to work on a cloud ready, highly serviceable big data platform that offers:

- Real time, cross domain data acquisition into an Operational Data Store (ODS)

- Complex Event Detection (CEP)

- Application hosting and execution of key operational tasks

Big data technologies and streaming frameworks at the heart of that system.

You will join a team that develops this new platform following Agile methodology: you will need to analyze user needs and design, code, test, debug, and document software solution with a highly creative mindset.

Requirements

You will have:

- A degree in Computer Science, or equivalent, or other significant industry experience

- Experience with big data technologies

- MongoDB

- Spark

- Hadoop

- Experience with streaming frameworks

- Kafka

- Kafka streaming or spark streaming

- Programing language

- Java

- C++ (desirable)

- An understanding of what it takes to design, build and operate a large scale, complex and data intensive system that has to operate flawlessly 24x7, 365 days per year.

- Excellent interpersonal skills - you will work with other operations and development teams on a daily basis.

It would be desirable, but not essential, if you have:

- SCM knowledge, preferably Git/Bitbucket

- Knowledge of distributed systems/service oriented architectures

- Knowledge of Rule/Inference engines (ideally Drools)

- Awareness of cloud technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, OpenStack)
