We're looking for a Senior Test Manager to join us in a new role within our IT team. As a Senior Test Manager you will develop the overall testing strategy and process to be deployed across the organisation, and the management of the delivery of test services within major IT projects or multiple medium sized projects.

Senior Test Manager - The role

- Define the overall IT Testing Methodology including standard documentation, procedures (e.g. reporting process) and tools obtaining sign-off from the leadership team

- Provide sustained test delivery management and assurance across a broad range of application and infrastructure projects, including:

-Setting up the overarching test vision, governance and strategy for each project; liaising with all parties to ensure that the defined processes are embedded and adhered to (including 3rd party due diligence; formulation of contracts; organisational structures and roles & responsibilities; stakeholder mapping; escalation paths; reporting and key meetings; communication strategy; planning; risks and issue management; deliverables definition & associated acceptance; change control process; quality management etc.)

-Design effective testing for complex technical and or business requirements

-Identification of project dependencies, resource constraints, milestones, issues and risks; allocate test leads/analysts to specific projects/ programmes

-Driving the test planning process to develop high level project plans for the E2E testing, and mid-level and detailed plans for each stage/work stream, identifying activities, tasks, dependencies and milestones

-Preparing documentation as and when required.

-Proactively monitoring the adherence to the governance and strategy definition, and implementing improvements for areas of weakness.

-The review and approval of project test deliverables on behalf of Matalan IT

- Assess setting up an IT testing service through establishing governance, developing a central source of standardised tools, methods, processes, expertise and best practices and optimising the utilisation and deployment of resources

- Support the selection of third party suppliers of testing resources, and manage the day-today relationship

- Work with the delivery teams to assign test resources to projects

- Keep up to date with latest testing tools, methodologies, trends, best practice and proactively identify opportunities for test process improvement and work collaboratively with stakeholders across the IT organisation to help drive innovation, improvements and efficiency

- Provide advice and guidance to other team members where required on all aspects of testing

- Actively communicate and engage with stakeholders and senior users at all levels of the organisation where required

Senior Test Manager - The Candidate:

- Significant IT industry experience

- Significant experience of managing both technical and functional system testing

- Business knowledge (retail sector)

- Test management tools and processes

- Strong knowledge across a variety of testing methodologies and best practices

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to handle difficult or sensitive situations

- Strong experience in test tools, test environment, configuration management and test data management.

- Strong influencing and negotiation skills both with internal stakeholders and 3rd party suppliers.

- Extensive, proven and successful track record demonstrating effective leadership and management of project teams as a senior test manager, with a focus on quality and results.

- The ability to motivate and manage matrix aligned resource

- Substantial experience managing IT 3rd party suppliers and partners both on and offshore

- Strong analysis and decision-making skills with keen attention to detail

- Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills with the ability to work proactively with minimal supervision
