Cardiff

£Competitive Plus Excellent Benefits

If you’re an analytical IT professional with experience of T-SQL and SQL Server, this is a superb opportunity to contribute to the ongoing success of a forward-thinking organisation.

Our client, a specialist retail finance provider with expertise in eFinance, is part of a larger, well-known and highly reputable banking group with a strong heritage. They are now looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to join their small, but formidable IT Team.

Customers are at the heart of everything that our client does and they are committed to continuously improving and finding new ways to help their customers and retail partners.

You will have the chance to play an integral role in our client’s pursuit of perfection. In return, you’ll receive a great benefits package, strong progression prospects and ongoing support to develop your abilities.

As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will ensure the integrity of data to enable informed business decisions.

In this important role, you’ll maintain a data warehouse that supports periodic, snapshot and insight reporting. You’ll work closely with the Finance Team to analyse large volumes of data, develop reports and insight to understand trends and communicate your findings to the wider business.

Additionally, your duties will involve:

- Working with the DBA to maintain databases

- Ensuring that backup strategies are effective and working on a daily basis

- Creating and maintaining a robust reporting structure and business-wide data dictionary

- Acting as a trusted advisor on all things data

- Ensuring that servers are configured for best performance

- Assisting the Development Team to build efficient SQL code

- Reviewing SQL Server performance

To be considered, you will need:

- Experience of working as part of a small, but busy, IT team in a growing company

- Previous experience of creating business reports using SQL Server Reporting Services

- A track record of working with the T-SQL language and SQL Server

- Experience of SQL clustering and log shipping

- Expertise in MS Excel

- Knowledge of indexes, index management and statistics

- The ability to correctly interpret and influence SQL execution plans

- The ability to detect, troubleshoot and offer solutions to SQL Server related bottlenecks

Meticulous and logical, as a Business Intelligence Analyst, you’ll be a clear, concise communicator with a performance-focused approach. Excellent planning and reviewing skills are also key.

Ideally, you will have experience of working with RedGate tools, but this is by no means essential.
