When you deliver, millions of customers across the UK get what they want

It takes more than fuel to keep our delivery vans on the road. When our customers receive their online orders, there’s a whole team of experts behind the drivers. They plan the routes, work out the schedules and make sure the deliveries arrive on time. Joining us as Senior Planning Analyst, you’ll be responsible for the successful delivery of around 5000 driver schedules.

Collaborating with Delivery Planning and Forecasting colleagues to incorporate the impact of territory and productivity changes into driver schedules, you’ll also analyse and interpret complex data sources to support strategic business decisions. And, identifying opportunities to improve processes, you’ll play a vital role in enabling change and growth as our online delivery business continues to evolve.

To join us, you’ll need a sound knowledge of SAS or SQL, together with Advanced level Microsoft Excel, Access and VBA expertise. You’ll also bring experience of resource planning and scheduling. And, whether your background is in mathematics, operational research or other numerate discipline, you should also have experience of resource planning, scheduling and understand the challenges of working in an operational environment.

By optimising the driver delivery plans you’ll make sure that our customers get what they want, when they need it, and straight to their doorstep. You’ll make it possible for millions of people to enjoy great food and quality products, with more time to get on with their lives. So it’s safe to say that this is a uniquely rewarding way to use and grow your expertise.

You’ll be responsible for:

Ensuring continuous improvement in the accuracy of the planning input variables.

Collaborating with the rest of the Delivery Planning Team and Forecasting Team to incorporate changes to territories, drive-times and/or doorstep times into the driver schedules.

Identifying opportunities to improve processes within the planning team and in stores.

Analysing and interpreting complex data sources to support strategic business decisions and enable continual performance improvements.

Liaising with suppliers of systems used for planning and routing, and ensure that those systems deliver the required functionality, flexibility and accuracy to support the changing needs of the business.

Involved in changes to the configuration of Oracle Real-time Scheduler (ORS) to provide optimised routing solutions for new business initiatives.

Proactively identifying and reviewing sales opportunities on a regular basis.

You’ll bring:

A background in mathematics, operational research or other numerate discipline.

Experience of resource planning and scheduling, and of the concepts of routing optimisation (working with routing systems is desirable but not essential)

Experience of working in an operational environment, or within online delivery.

A strong track record of analysing data, and identifying trends and anomalies.

Proven ability of cross-functional working, with stakeholders at all levels.

Excellent planning skills and strong attention to detail.
