This is an exciting opportunity to join The ESP Group providing high quality software development expertise for the ESP Group.

We are looking to upskill and enhance our existing Development Team to meet future needs. Thus we are keen to hear from experienced people who have the following technical skills and abilities;

Taking the Technical Lead and responsibility for the technical leadership of the development team for project work, incident resolutions and change requests for the ESP Group. This role involves hands on software development but also has the responsibility for making high-level design decisions and setting technical standards, coding approach, software coding standards, tools, and platforms.

CORE FUNCTIONS:

The core functions of this role are:

-Has overall responsibility for establishing Technical Design Authority and decision making processes that will drive best practice within the development team

-Establishes a technical vision with the development team, turning it into reality through the creation of a technical roadmap for the development teams tool set

-Steer the development team towards the common technical vision, which includes writing code at approximately 30% of the time

-Team upskilling though coaching in agile software development techniques such as Test Driven Development And Extreme Programming

-Provides Project Managers with high quality estimations and solution options that will meet ESP Group client requirements advises on technical risk for all project work

-Keeps Project Managers well informed on the status of development effort and serves as the key liaison between development staff and project managers.

-Responsible for the definition, implementation and adherence of the development teams Quality Standards.

-Owns the development lifecycle and is responsible for managing technical risks throughout the project.

Applies significant knowledge of software development technologies to improve the capabilities of the software development team.
