National Records of Scotland collects, preserves, and produces information about Scotland's people and history, and makes it available to inform current and future generations.
We are looking for an experienced and talented individual to join us and lead the transformation of our ICT services which are fundamental to our success. National Records of Scotland (NRS) plays a crucial role in Scotland’s public sector landscape - we take Scotland’s Census and are preparing for the next one in 2021; we produce statistics about Scotland’s population that underpin policy and spending decisions; and we look after the nation’s archives, which include the records of the courts and government, increasingly in digital form.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will lead on the development and implementation of an ICT Strategy and delivery framework. You will drive forward the transformation of our ICT services, moving away from legacy systems and putting in place putting in place solutions which will deliver effective, efficient and flexible ICT across our business services. NRS is on a journey of transformation and you will be flexible and responsive, working with senior colleagues to provide solutions that meet the needs of the business. You will lead the ICT function (around 50 staff) supporting and developing the talent within your teams.
The post is based in Edinburgh, with car parking and easy access to public transport.
ICT Pay Supplement
This post attracts a £4,000 ICT pay supplement, after a 9 month ICT Competency qualifying period.
Qualifications Required
Candidates are expected to hold a minimum of 3 SCE Higher or A Level qualifications (grades A-C) including English.
Essential criteria
1. A strong track record of leadership at a senior level, successfully driving digital and cultural change in a customer-facing environment.
2. Proven senior level experience of both developing and implementing ICT strategy, at scale and in a complex technical environment.
3. The ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of the organisation’s senior leadership team, with strong influencing, engagement and communication skills.
4. Substantial programme management experience.
5. Experience of financial management at scale.
Desirable criteria
GSI/PSN compliance and operational awareness.
Strong understanding of IT Security and information architecture.
