Location
Our offices are located in central London, close to Kings Cross. There will be occasional travel to customer sites in the U.K.
The Candidate
We are seeking an enthusiastic performance tester, who has a strong understanding in conducting performance tests for software applications. They need to simulate many scenarios using tools such as JMeter and load runner. At the same time, they should also monitor the physical system activity such as CPU, memory, disk and networks. In addition to that it is the responsibility of the performance tester to understand behaviour of the application / web servers & Database servers. In short a performance tester should understand the complete system from design to behaviour.
Ability to use monitoring tools such as perfmon, vmstat, mpstat, top, new relic, iostat, netstat. Also require experience using dynatrace, jconsole, new relic, AWR reports, SQL profiler to understand the "Server" specific behaviour. Generate reports during and after the testing and provide a high level report detailing the response times and throughput at the end of the each test, a detail report comprising of server side stats and a high level report and finding documents provided at the end of each module. Candidate will discuss findings with software developers and work with them to fix the performance issues to ensure quality of the service we provide to customers and to retain credibility of the software that is developed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Promote and champion performance testing best practices and principles
Organise, specify and lead the execution of performance and load testing for various projects
Work with project teams and business experts to determine appropriate performance and load profiles to meet a given range of scenarios
Collaborate with development, architecture and operational colleagues to help in the diagnosis of performance and load issues, providing an understanding of how the solution and systems behave under performance and load scenarios.
To identify and eliminate bottlenecks found during the Non Functional Testing
To create and gain sign off from the stakeholders for the Performance Test strategies, test plans and test scripts
To plan load tests, create virtual users, create data, create scenarios, run scenarios, analyse system under load
To ensure all risks and issues are reported, escalated and managed through to resolution
To engage with the requirements team resolving any points of clarification with respect to Non Functional test requirements
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Experience of the full testing lifecycle
6 years experience of performance, load and stress testing with knowledge of tools such as JMeter (essential) and LoadRunner.
Excellent planning, organisational skills and attention to detail
Proven capability to plan, script, run, analyse and report on Non Functional tests
Proven non-functional testing skills and estimation skills
Self-motivated, enthusiastic & flexible
Ability to communicate both internally and externally with an awareness of confidentiality and risk.
Flexibility to take on new projects, ways of working.
Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to find solutions to issues
Knowledge of and experience in reliability and availability test planning and execution.
Degree in computer science or engineering
6 years experience in System monitoring and Server Side monitoring including log parsing
