An opportunity has arisen for an individual to join a committed and enthusiastic Civil Engineering Team within the School of Architecture, Design & the Built Environment. The Civil Engineering Team has an excellent reputation in relation to graduate employment through the delivery of strong vocational professionally accredited courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The post holder will be required to further enhance this reputation and to help further develop its research offering.

The role will primarily focus on teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level within the civil engineering subject area whilst also contributing to the development of these courses in general. Candidates will be expected to offer knowledge and skills relevant to the wide civil engineering, design and construction fields but will need to demonstrate ability and expertise in one or more of the following core subject areas:- Civil Engineering Technology/Construction Practice and Management, Engineering Surveying or Infrastructure/Highway Engineering.

You will have a degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline together with proven industry and/or Higher Education teaching experience in Civil Engineering. It is also desirable that you will be an Incorporated or Chartered member of a relevant professional body.

The Civil Engineering courses at NTU have a strong emphasis on student engagement, practical projects and employability, as borne out by recent NSS Survey results. To further support the student learning experience, the Civil Engineering laboratory facilities have recently undergone a £350,000 upgrade. So whilst past teaching and research experience is desirable, the more general ability to communicate effectively, enthuse and motivate students, and further develop the overall student learning experience is seen as vitally important.
