About the team

The Network Operations Team are responsible for providing highly proactive technical services for our estate of 300 managed service customers, monitoring network infrastructure, managing technical resolution and implementation of technical change.

Your role

In this role as Tier 2 NOC Engineer, you will provide technical support capability for BSO managed services clients within the 24x7 NOC, working within the contracted service level agreements (SLAs). You will be customer facing and will provide end to end supportability between our customer solutions and our network and platform capability teams.

Responsibilities

-Provide a stable managed service within SLA`s across all of the BSO client base

-Monitor Gateway WAN, LAN, Firewalls and Data Centre network infrastructure

-Fault diagnostics and incident resolution within contractual SLAs

-Coordination of field service engineers

-Engaging 3rd party vendors such as Service Providers (BT) and hardware maintainers

-Plan and deliver customer change request

-Implementation and decommissioning tasks

-Assist with Service Improvement initiatives and take a proactive approach in increasing team productivity

Demonstrable Experience

-Prior experience of working in a NOC or managed services environment

-Ability to work as part of a team or autonomously within a 24 x 7 shift pattern

-Sound diagnostic capabilities and basic fault resolution

-Good understanding of layer 2 switching and layer 3 routing

-Understanding of the WAN technologies including MPLS, ADSL, FTTC, Ethernet circuits, Leased Lines, ISDN and LES

-Prior use of SNMP based monitoring systems (preferably CA Spectrum)

-Experience with ITIL processes

Essential Qualifications

-Cisco CCNA level of accreditation or equivalent proven track record of experience
