Job Description

A position is available and applications invited for the role of Head of Engineering with a Telecommunications company in Riyadh Saudi Arabia. The position attracts an excellent tax free salary of £133k pa and an excellent package including accompanied status if required, free villa accommodation, car, health insurance, generous leave entitlement and an education (boarding school) package for dependant children.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES :

1. Fully accountable for effective management of engineering function and for governance in line with company processes and customer expectation.

2. As Design Authority for company, ensure systems meet standards and customer requirements.

3. Responsible for leading engineering best practice and maintaining capability.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Responsible for the delivery of the Engineering output reqired to support the customer. As such, the Engineering Manager will:

- Ensure that company engineering design and practice is conducted and wholly resourced appropriately to company standards;

- Provide a SDA function, managing design reviews etc in line with Customer needs.

- Be responsible for the appropriate management of the Engineering function with regard to commercial contractual obligations

- Be the prime contact for technical matters relating to the company

Provide hands-on engineering management of key bids and programmes to supplement the existing engineering management teams.

Fully accountable for managing the Engineering team and output within budget and for completing appropriate commercial processes required to facilitate/support financial revenue.

Fully accountable for maintaining records of Engineering effort/time in accordance with standard company practice.

Responsible for delivering Engineering operations to current best practice within budget constraints.

Responsible to provide Through Life Management

CONTACT WITH OTHERS (Internal/External/Meetings):

The Head of Engineering will be expected to come into contact with UK and SA government, suppliers, company management and other corporate visitors. Travel between UK and Saudi Arabia will be expected.

Will be expected to act as customer friend and single point of contact for engineering.

JUDGEMENT/DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY (Specific Responsibilities):

Delegated budget responsibility with authorised limits, appropriate for the position

- Authority on approval of design reviews.

RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION (Knowledge & Experience):

ESSENTIAL

1. UK Bachelors Degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline

2. Over 10 years proven experience in a similar role, senior level design authority and team lead experience on complex large value systems.

3. Practitioner level experience in systems engineering, ISO 15288

4. Good standard of written and spoken English

DESIRABLE

1.Chartered Engineer
