About the Team:

The IP Design Team is part of the Networks Infrastructure Domain which is responsible for connecting our mobile and fixed network equipment together and how we connect our people to the IT systems that they need to do their jobs. The IP Design team consists of a team of highly skilled individuals.

Your role:

In your IP Design role, you will be responsible for producing and overseeing the production of IP Network Designs, both High and Low Level, Test Plans and Migrations Designs/Strategies. These must ensure that O2`s IP Infrastructure has very high quality levels of reliability, scalability and flexibility. It must be delivered cost effectively and in a timely manner, meeting agreed service and availability targets with the required level of reslience and capacity.

Responsibilities:

-Provide effective, timely and accurate network designs for new and existing Design initiatives covering the O2 MPLS core network and local LAN deployments

-Oversee IP Designs produced by third party and junior IP Designers and ensure they`re compliant

-Ensuring standardisation across networks are developed and cost effective scalable solutions are produced

-Liaise with suppliers to confirm design assumptions/supplier capabilities and to support implementation and testing activities

-Ensure designs are peer reviewed and meet requirements

-Provide accurate Data Network Design Consultancy to approved projects

-Support and initiating process improvement activities

-Ensure networks and infrastructure elements are correctly capacity managed and fully support FCAPS requirements

Essential Skills:

-Experience in the areas of IP network design

-An in depth understanding of IP and associated Protocols

-Hands on experience with Cisco networking technologies

-Understanding of Telecommunications Transmission Systems

-Strong written and verbal communication skills required for presenting complex technical concepts

-Customer facing experience within a technical environment

-Capable of achieving recognition as expert in a technology area critical to O2`s Business

Desirable:

-Cisco CCIE qualification

-Experience of working within a data network service provider environment

-Experience of working within a mobile network operator environment

Grade: PCGT
