Brighton & Hove is a vibrant, digitally innovative and connected city, at the heart of its city region and at the centre of a number of local and regional initiatives with public, private and 3rd sector partners, offering opportunities to engage with a variety of stakeholders and partners and really make a difference to people who live and work here.

The Council is well into a multi-year programme of organisational modernisation, including renewal of core IT platforms and infrastructure, digital innovation and many business change programmes and projects in which IT is a key partner. We are also establishing close ties with East Sussex County Council and Surrey County Council through the Orbis partnership, which provides professional and technical support services for its partner organisations.

This is an exciting time to join our team. We are an ambitious and forward looking IT department with skills in a range of enterprise technologies and digital delivery practices. Working in a fast paced environment, in the heart of the City and close to the seafront, these roles offer great opportunity for gaining substantial professional and technical experience.

BHCC’s Platform Engineering Team is responsible for developing and maintaining core platforms, information repositories, databases and application infrastructure. This includes development platforms, business intelligence platforms, data platforms, document management, content management platforms and release management.

The Platform Engineering team is recruiting a Senior ICT Analyst / Database Administrator to join an established team supporting MS SQL Server and Oracle databases.

To be successful in this role you’ll have a demonstrable background in database administration, backup and restore techniques, query optimisation, stored procedures, MSDT and a sound understanding of database and general security standards.

As a senior member of the team you’ll demonstrate leadership qualities and exemplary standards of work. The role will require you to work closely with architects to produce a clear strategy for our management of databases.

If you feel you are a good fit for one or more of the roles we are advertising, we want to hear from you. We do not accept CVs so please submit an application for each role you wish to be considered for. Please read the application pack carefully and ensure that your response addresses each point in the Person Specification, with examples.

As part of Brighton & Hove City Council’s ongoing commitment to redeployment, please note that this vacancy may be withdrawn at any stage of the recruitment process, without prior notice if a suitable redeployee (internal employee at risk of redundancy) is identified.
