Brighton & Hove City Council is recruiting to a number of IT and digital roles.

Brighton & Hove is a vibrant, digitally innovative and connected city, at the heart of its city region and at the centre of a number of local and regional initiatives with public, private and 3rd sector partners, offering opportunities to engage with a variety of stakeholders and partners and really make a difference to people who live and work here.

The Council is well into a multi-year programme of organisational modernisation, including renewal of core IT platforms and infrastructure, digital innovation and many business change programmes and projects in which IT is a key partner. We are also establishing close ties with East Sussex County Council and Surrey County Council through the Orbis partnership, which provides professional and technical support services for its partner organisations.

This is an exciting time to join our team. We are an ambitious and forward looking IT department with skills in a range of enterprise technologies and digital delivery practices. Working in a fast paced environment, in the heart of the City and close to the seafront, these roles offer great opportunity for gaining substantial professional and technical experience.

We are looking for experienced individuals to work alongside our ICT Consultants over the next year, in the delivery of major programmes of change spanning infrastructure, desktop and application products and platforms. Our ICT Consultants are key to our delivery of ICT project and programme management practices in alignment with appropriate methodologies (MSP, PRINCE2, Agile) and you will have a proven track record of a disciplined approach and the successful delivery of significant projects. Although the main focus for these temporary roles will be on technical project management, ICT Consultants also provide both internal and external specialist advice on a range of ICT service subjects, including ICT procurement, supplier and contract approaches, service development definition and service handover, multi-sector or multi-agency service development definition and coordination, so experience and knowledge in these areas will be an advantage.

In order to solve a variety of business and technical issues and to work on projects within a complex portfolio of work, you will possess strong and up to date technical background and knowledge. You will be a self-starter with excellent stakeholder management and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of influencing at all levels of a complex, political organisation. You will be able to demonstrate how you exercise independent judgment within defined practices and procedures, in order to identify and determine appropriate action. You must also possess excellent client-facing and internal communication skills and excellent written and verbal skills.

If you feel you are a good fit for one or more of the roles we are advertising, we want to hear from you. We do not accept CVs so please submit an application for each role you wish to be considered for. Please read the application pack carefully and ensure that your response addresses each point in the Person Specification, with examples by clicking the APPLY button.

As part of Brighton & Hove City Council’s ongoing commitment to redeployment, please note that this vacancy may be withdrawn at any stage of the recruitment process, without prior notice if a suitable redeployee (internal employee at risk of redundancy) is identified.
