Brighton & Hove City Council is recruiting to a number of IT and digital roles.

The Council is well into a multi-year programme of organisational modernisation, including renewal of core IT platforms and infrastructure, digital innovation and many business change programmes and projects in which IT is a key partner. We are also establishing close ties with East Sussex County Council and Surrey County Council through the Orbis partnership, which provides professional and technical support services for its partner organisations.

Working in a fast paced environment, in the heart of the City and close to the seafront, these roles offer great opportunity for gaining substantial professional and technical experience.

This is an opportunity to join the data solutions team, a busy and fast-moving team proactively working towards a data rich Council. We support the analysis of data across systems, and ensure that data standards are met. This includes datasets such as LLPG, GIS, and map layers for regulatory data. We have recently upgraded to a new version of ARCGIS and are particularly keen for someone with those skills, or good experience of other GIS/Spatial systems.

The person we are looking for will be creative and focused, with good communication skills, and an ability to work with the requirements of the business. We are looking for someone who is driven, and has the skills to both develop and add value to mapping solutions, so a background in GIS/spatial systems is a must. You will act as a subject matter expert in the business data requirements, as well as having a broad technical knowledge, which includes working with and supporting our business customers to understand their needs and learning requirements.

Previous experience of some of the products we currently use will be an advantage. These include ARCGIS or similar, geo-spatial layers within regulatory systems such as Uniform, data cleansing systems such as Clearcore, and an understanding of LLPG datasets.
