We are seeking a qualified Systems Architect to take ownership of our technical architecture and put in place enterprise architecture standards and protocols. We are looking for someone who will:

Play a key part in defining and executing PHE’s technical strategy;

Put in place the standards and policies for technical development and deployment;

Lead and contribute to the strategic design for PHE’s information systems; and

Work closely with business areas to understand their future needs and ensure that any future technical model meets these.

We are looking for...

Are you a technically qualified and experienced Systems Architect, who has delivered real improvements for your team? If so, and you can demonstrate previous success in defining the architecture, standards and controls for a large organisation then we’d like to hear from you.

You inspire those around you by showing great leadership and building confidence in your abilities and those of your team. You provide an authoritative grasp of technical detail, but can also translate this for non-technical colleagues and present ideas in an accessible manner. Your communication and partner management skills will be second to none and you will be able to demonstrate previous experience of thought leadership and influence at a senior level. You organise your time well and are able to respond to occasionally challenging deadlines, whilst being able to accommodate changing priorities. You are confident and credible, able to influence and build consensus at the highest levels of the organisation.

Does this sound like you? If so, we will encourage and support your professional development and help you grow into a special organisation that makes a real difference.

As the remit of the organisation is to protect the health of the public, which is a 24x7 requirement, you may also be required to participate in an out-of-hours support rota which provides support cover for ICT emergencies, ensuring, in particular, that the services for which you are responsible meet the service delivery criteria. Much of this work is undertaken remotely, so can fit in with family responsibilities.

Applicants are strongly advised to use the criteria in the person specification (available online) as sub-headings in their application to make it clear how they meet each of the selection criteria. Please also see job description for competencies

Public Health England promotes diversity in the workplace and is an equal opportunities employer. We would particularly welcome female applicants, as they are currently under-represented within PHE ICT.
