Are you able to absorb a wide range of information quickly and make sound judgements? Do you have an analytical mind? Do you have a genuine interest in forensic investigative techniques and the role they play in electronic data searches?

If so, we want to hear from you.

As our Senior Data Forensic Investigator, you will ensure that the department meets its legal requirements to find data relevant to Freedom of Information requests, Data Protection requests, Judicial Reviews etc. You will often need to do this to very tight deadlines.

You will carry out forensic investigations across a range of digital storage facilities using advanced search tools and techniques to get the right results with minimal impact on system performance.

You will work with a range of officials, including other IT professionals, senior civil servants, lawyers and policy teams.

About you

Ideally, you have a background in carrying out a wide range of data forensic investigations, with an understanding of relevant law. As a minimum, you are working in an IT or programming environment and have an eye for detail and an analytical mind. You are able to use your communication skills to understand the requirements of the investigation, and how the investigation needs to be carried out. You have the ability to absorb information and instructions quickly, allowing you to take responsibility for your own work. You are confident in your own abilities and use your understanding of what is expected of you to successfully manage the expectations of others.

You will have an industry-recognised qualification in computer forensic investigation techniques, such as the Certified Forensic Investigation Practitioner (CFIP) qualification, or be willing to work towards such a qualification within six months of joining us.
