We are looking to recruit a REF Panels Project Manager to work within the team responsible for delivering the next Research Excellence Framework (REF).

The REF is the system for assessing the quality of research in UK higher education institutions. The key purposes of the REF are to: inform the selective allocation of funding for research; provide accountability for public investment in research and produce evidence of the benefits of this investment; and provide benchmarking information and establish reputational yardsticks, for use within the HE sector and for public information.

We are looking for a very well-organised, self-motivated person, ideally with a background and key interest in higher education, research or policy. Capable of working on their own initiative, the ideal candidate will contribute substantially to the development and delivery of the next REF. They will play a key role in project managing the provision of high quality support and guidance to the REF expert panels. The successful candidate will have excellent planning and project management skills and will be a confident communicator with people at all levels.

If you have these qualities and experience and would relish the opportunity to take on this exciting role then we would very much like to hear from you.

After receiving Royal Assent for the Higher Education and Research Act, work is underway to establish UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) from 1st April 2018. UKRI will assume the research and knowledge exchange responsibilities currently carried out by HEFCE. It is currently anticipated that this role will transfer to UKRI.

Benefits include 25 days` annual leave, a comprehensive staff development programme, and the opportunity to join the Civil Service Pension scheme.
