A new and exciting opportunity for an experienced IT professional. We are looking for a Head of Generation Solutions to be based at our offices in Swindon with regular travel within the UK and when required into Europe.

Role description

The team provides IT solutions geared specifically to the operating requirements of each generation business. Reporting to the Head of IT (Hard Coal and Gas), you will be accountable for specialist IT services provided by internal and third party providers.

Business functions in scope include plant operational control and monitoring, thermal and operating performance, emissions management, health and safety, planned and unplanned maintenance, commercial management, fuel logistics and business administration.

Team members are grounded in UK, with extended teams and key business partners in India, Vietnam, Slovakia, and Continental Europe. Business solutions are designed to operate across international borders, with an increasing focus on customer operations in Germany and Netherlands as well as UK.

A key element of the role requires the management of third parties, who will be required to work within an IT outsourcing model. Supported by vendor management, you will engage at both an operational and strategic level, to define, negotiate and establish new services and service levels.

Skills and experience

-Extensive experience in the IT industry alongside leadership experience

-Able to deliver expert IT solutions from cradle to grave (insourced / third party)

-Operational experience of running IT services in a multivendor outsourced IT model

-Best practice implementation of ITIL V3, Project Management and SCRUM is essential

-Able to operate in a fast paced and complex environment, managing stakeholders, peers and teams using exemplary communication and negotiation skills

-Strategic outlook with the ability to direct teams and businesses through large-scale organizational and industry change

-Utilities business knowledge is highly desirable
