We are looking for a Public Cloud Infrastructure Manager to join our Cloud Infrastructure team responsible for leading a team of subject matter experts to create, maintain and continuously improve the delivery of Infrastructure. You’ll need to maintain strong engagement with Sainsbury’s senior management team, Cloud Competency Centre and the broader delivery teams is crucial in order to lead a team of engineers and respond to businesses requirements.

The Public Cloud Infrastructure manager will be accountable for implementing and managing the JS Cloud Infrastructure Services operating model. Their duties and responsibilities include;

- Oversees the allocating of Public Cloud Infrastructure and Platform engineering expertise to product and project teams for building Infrastructure environments consistently.

- Contribute to managing a budget of £5 million;

- Implements a ‘self-service’ Public Cloud PaaS enabling product and project teams to select and deploy environments for development, testing and live without the need for a Public Cloud Infrastructure Developer - effectively the process for deploying environments is fully automated (genuinely self-service) in a controlled and consistent way.

- Contributes to D&T strategy, standards, and solutions

- Coordinates service levels with product and business managers, and internal users to define and deliver at or above service level agreement standards

- Remains on the forefront of emerging Public Cloud Infrastructure and Platform technologies and practices

- Identifies Cloud Infrastructure innovations and manages the implementation of these across our organization, processes, and technologies

- Coaches, trains, and develops colleagues to ensure proficiency in delivery of services that we provide on a daily basis.

- Develops positive stakeholder relationships at all levels to deliver change, resolve issues, and manage the product lifecycles

- Measures, tracks, reports, and attains/exceeds D&T goals.

- Organizes, documents, and reports to senior management on all projects and daily responsibilities.

- Escalates issues and pursues resolutions to the agreed SLA’s.

- Manages multiple operations projects simultaneously within a dynamic environment, oversees the assignment of resource across support and projects.

- Establishes project priorities with SLT, communicates target schedules for deliverables.

- Participates in business application and middleware design discussions and review sessions from a public cloud infrastructure perspective. Monitors related networking, data centre and non-cloud infrastructure activity and plan.

- Manage operational standards and procedures, and ensures those are documented and followed by team members

- Act as Manager on escalation as part of Service Operations rota, providing resources to support for the Public Cloud Platform and Infrastructure.

- Manage the department budget to ensure both CAPEX and OPEX targets are met and additional costs are forecasted and planned correctly.

- Line manage Public Cloud Infrastructure team leads in accordance with Sainsbury’s practices.

The Public Cloud Infrastructure Manager will need the following experience to be successful;

- Managing a large team of 30+ technical practitioners with both development and sys admin abilities

- Service accountability for business critical IT systems.

- Detailed understanding of DevOps ways of working and how to implement them within a large enterprise.

- Experience in delivering Infrastructure, Platform and Software as a Service solutions using Public Cloud services, such as AWS, Azure and Google, and open source technologies, such as Ansible, Chef, Terraform and Jenkins.

- Virtualisation /automation

- Extensive experience in automation techniques and technology including Continuous Integration and Delivery processes.

- Understand how to manage stakeholders within a high pressure environment.

- How to manage IT budgets of over £5m per annum

- Excellent leadership and coaching skills

- Proven track record of measuring and implementing IT transformation

- Inspirational communication skills both verbally and written

- Experience of implementing and working with virtual and cloud based infrastructure

- How to manage environments efficiently

- ITIL Service Management practitioner

- Experience of delivering projects using both waterfall and agile techniques

- Experience of Scrum and Kanban work flow management techniques
