About the role:

We’re looking for a Software Engineer with web application development experience and commercial experience of SOA design and implementation using Restful web service frameworks.

On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for working with other members of a multi-disciplinary agile project team to design solutions and deliver stories. When the stories are done, then there’s time to unwind with a bit of table tennis!

You will work closely with Architects, Operations, Business Analysts and QAs to ensure a quality delivery and be responsible for executing software refactoring where needed and appropriate.

About the Team:

Abcam is on a journey of a multi-year investment in its core IT systems. Our architectural landscape which supports our industry leading E-Commerce platform will consist of in-house developed systems utilising middleware solutions (WebMethods) to incorporate Oracle Cloud ERP as well as other packaged systems (Cloud and On-Premise). Therefore, any experience in messaging, interfacing and architecting in this ecosystem is advantageous.

About You:

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience of most of the following: C#, WebAPI, MVC, ASP.NET, Javascript, TDD, AGILE, SCRUM, SQL, ORMs (e.g. nHibernate), Adobe ColdFusion while experience of systems integration technologies (e.g. WebAPI, WCF, ESB) would be desirable. If you have a passion for quality software engineering in an agile environment, strong communication skills within a software development team, see yourself as a catalyst for improvement in rapid software development and continuous deployment then this could be the next role for you.

In conjunction with this, our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and energetic with evidence of driving positive change which yield results. You will have interest within local and global technical communities keeping abreast of the latest patterns and technologies. Perhaps you tweet, blog or speak at events? If so, we want to hear about it!

You will need to have graduated in a Computer Science or numerate degree and be seasoned in various web architectures, SOA platforms, and frameworks. You should be proficient in techniques used in producing designs of complex IT systems. Experience in unit / integration / regression testing and test driven development is essential and a familiarity with the continuous integration and continuous deployment of software would be ideal.
