An excellent opportunity for a Junior Systems Administrator position has become available!

You will be the first point of contact for the provision of an IT procurement service to the Campus which includes procurement of hardware, software and licensing, as well as assiting in the delivery of a high quality, customer focused, IT and telecommunications service to the Institute.

Working independently and with other team members, you will develop effective working relationships with customers to enhance the IT service provision. Providing technical support at first and second line, you will facilitate the effective use of the IT infrastructure resource, supporting all of the aims of the Sanger Institute in your daily activities.

As part of a 14 strong team, you will participate in the service desk rota, responding to telephone calls, allocating work tickets accordingly, helping set priorities and escalating problems to more senior members of the IT team as required.

The Sanger Institute is a charitably funded research centre focused on understanding the role of genetics in health and disease. We use state of the art large-scale genomic approaches to drive world-leading projects to uncover the basis of genetic and infectious disease. Our goal is to provide results that can be translated into diagnostics, treatments or therapies that reduce global health burdens.

* Have an appreciation of computer hardware, peripherals and networking

* Experience of ITIL

* Experience of working with Windows, Mac and Unix systems

The Institute is located near Cambridge, UK on the stunning Wellcome Genome Campus. This growing and dynamic site is the British hub of genomic science. It hosts the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), Open Targets, a Biodata Innovation Centre and will soon host Genomics England Limited's 100,000 Genomes Sequencing Centre.
