Software Tester (Java)

Our client is looking to hire a Software Tester (Java) to join their team based in Edinburgh for an initial 3 month contract period.

Responsibilities:

* Interface with key stakeholders in Product Management, Operations and Development to ensure completion of software projects on time and budget

* Design and Develop automated test infrastructure and automated tests for product qualification

* Integrate automated test solutions with existing solutions / systems

* As a quality Engineer come up with innovative test cases and test scenarios, participate in the SDLC by taking a proactive role in evaluating the quality of the software and our processes

* Participate in engineering design solutions meetings with other team members

Requirements:

* 10+ years recent experience as a Software Developer in Test (SDET), 5+ years of recent Java or other software development language experience (may also consider strong C++ experience)

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline or MS in Computer Science or related discipline (Or, equivalent combination of education and work experience)

* Solid knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl, PHP, Python

* Experience working with Big Data -Exposure to Agile Software Development methodologies

* Experience with Network or Security testing -Experience testing distributed applications, database technologies and testing

* Experience working with UNIX/Linux

* Strong technical, problem-solving and persuasive communication skills.

* Project oriented and able to work with minimal day-to-day direction.

* Must be a fast learner, highly motivated and willing to take on projects under deadline.

* Excellent written and verbal communications plus interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with peers
