Software Application Project Engineer vacancy available on a 6 Month Rolling Contract in Aberdeen, Scotland within the Oil & Gas Sector.

Successful candidates can have the option to be based in either the London or Aberdeen site, which will be discussed at interview stage.

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic 6 Month Contract available for a Software Application Project Engineer that has experience working in the Petro Technical Application IT Environment within the Oil & Gas Sector.

Working as the Software Application Project Engineer you will have a high level of technical ability combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills and have the confidence to liaise with Clients, Users and Management Teams.

As the Software Application Project Engineer you will be part of the end to end Application Lifecycle Team for an Oil & Gas major, which will include deployment, installation of application components, testing, troubleshooting and co-ordinating with 3rd party suppliers.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

'¢ Part of the end to end application lifecycle team for an Oil and Gas major

'¢ Delivery of all application layer requirements/deliverables required as part of global application deployment

'¢ Installation of all server application components into Windows and Linux environments according to the internal standards and installation instructions

'¢ Carry out application testing and be proactive in resolving any identified issues

'¢ Troubleshoot application issues through testing period and handover to support

'¢ Coordinate 3rd party suppliers where required in provision of application installations

'¢ Daily reporting into PMO team

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

'¢ Input into the application Technical Infrastructure Plan for the designed solution

'¢ Detail the planned application deployment including updates documentation

'¢ Installation of agreed server application components

'¢ Creation and localisation of test scripts required to prove the installation processes in the local deployment

'¢ Performing testing of the application components and then participating and supporting all required phases of the regional testing phases of the early adopter deployments

'¢ Creation of local application configuration document to detail the specific configuration and any other information required to inform the transition to support activities

IDEAL CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Required:

'¢ Experience managing activity in petro-technical software deployment

'¢ Strong experience in Application Support & Operations within a matrix organisation

'¢ Experience of TIBCO OpenSpirit

'¢ Experience in Virtualisation (both Wintel & RHEL) methods

'¢ Strong technical awareness of Linux and Windows environments

'¢ Able to create working relationships across multiple geographically dispersed technical delivery and support teams

'¢ Able to deliver detailed documentation to project standards

'¢ Able to manage complexity and seek common solutions to difficult problems while focusing on both the big picture and immediate needs

'¢ Be self-directed work; maintaining schedules for multiple concurrent activities which span across different teams and geographies.

Desirable:

'¢ Experience of SQL Server installation and configuration

'¢ Working knowledge of Petrel, Studio and TIBCO OpenSpirit technologies
