My Glasgow based non-profit making Government-owned client is looking for a dynamic Front-End Test Analyst. They are currently going through a transformation programme to help them achieve their mission to become a digital, customer focused centre of excellence. In order to achieve this, the programme is divided around four key areas: Core Systems Replacement, Digital Delivery, Business Improvements and Organisation Design and Efficiency.

Candidates for this testing role must have strong skills in frontend or backend digital product & service delivery (or both) and be ready to quickly get to work within a multi-disciplinary team of developers, designers, editors, analysts focussed on one or more products or projects.

Day-to-day you will be responsible for working embedded within that team to ensure quality of design and software, to create and improve new and existing products, platforms and transactions across government.

Key Accountabilities

* To participate and drive the testing of systems throughout the agile process

* Ensure a holistic view of quality is delivered from design, usability, code quality, performance, maintainability etc to provide appropriate quality of product or service vs the delivery stage

* Design testing approaches with other members of teams appropriate to the challenge at a high level of quality

* Improve the efficiency of testing through development of continuous testing and continuous integration solutions, and other useful approaches to end-to-end regression quality

* Ensure the non-functional requirements are understood and met

* Ensure the service will continue to operate end-to-end paying particular attention to integration, legacy and third parties

* Develop the test and quality competence of the company through quality industry learning and adoption of GDS best practice as appropriate

* Ensure all software releases are fit for purpose and protect the end-to-end live service

* Manage communication processes with the rest of the CDO function, Service Managers, Product Managers and third parties to ensure the reported quality risk is known

* Evidence tests and controls to prove the reported quality assessments are accurate and risks comprehended

Essential

* Experience of digital solutions at the front-end or in transaction processing service environments

* An ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience, pro-active sharing attitudes

* Experience working on technical projects within an Agile & service aligned model and the necessary sharing communicative behaviours

* Ability to quickly research and learn new tools and techniques, learn by proof of concepts and iteration

* Experience testing server-side web applications and detailed knowledge of at least one programming language (we use a range of languages with a Java core) and/or detailed understanding and experience of front-end web development (HTML/CSS/JS) from a quality & test perspective

* Knowledge of the use of version control systems such as subversion or git

* Ability to quickly research and learn new quality tools and techniques

Desirable

* Experience of high-traffic websites

* Understanding of the use of Quality at every step of the Agile process

* Experience of handling large data sets and scaling their handling and storage

* System administration and configuration management skills

* Understanding of the use of Responsive Web Design
