Position Title: Platform Design Assurance & Optimisation Manager

Reports to: Head of Technology Integration & Assurance

Summary of Role:

To manage a team of senior professionals to ensure that

- All systems designed within the company ITO estate are aligned to agreed platform (Mainframe, UNIX, Wintel, Storage and Telecoms) architectural principles.

- All infrastructure technology has an company roadmap for its development and implementation and that a phased, optimized plan has been developed, documented and socialised within the company and the Supply Chain for all in-scope technologies.

To ensure there is design adherence to Regulatory compliance and Security Requirements.

To ensure systems design documents including High Level Designs are produced modified and signed off

To assess levels of technology optimisation and define categories (eg Basis, Standard, Dynamic)

To ensure that the technical domain knowledge for the operation and development of end to end business services across is maintained for all in-scope technologies.

To ensure there is design adherence to levels of required system monitoring and service telemetry

Principal Accountabilities:

Be the overall Owner of all company platform and telecoms infrastructure design compliance within the IT Supply Chain

For new Applications engage early in the development process and broker the selection of the appropriate platform/technology stack (eg platform - Mainframe or cloud, network solution) for the new service and how it will integrate into the overall AIB environment and be consistent with the all standards. Ensure that any recommended platform choice' for this service is aligned to the current capacity and volume commitments in the contracts with the suppliers (eg if there are any minimum commitment risks - the impacted technology will be recommended for the new solution provided it will deliver the required service).

Be responsible for leading any service performance issue escalation with the infrastructure service providers to their conclusion - or escalation via SIAM via the appropriate channels to the Head of ITO and CIO if required.

Be responsible for ensuring that all system designs are aligned to agreed infrastructure architectural principles and that the appropriate functional and non-functional requirements are included in the design and mandate adherence to compliance and Security requirement.

Be responsible for ensuring all System design documents including HLDs are produced modified and signed off and feedback to Infrastructure Architecture where there is need to add to or modify architectural principles.

Be responsible for ensuring that the team collaborate with appropriate internal and external teams to ensure that there is a phased optimisation roadmap view for all technology designs.

Be responsible for the team assessing levels of optimisation of all technologies and defining categories (eg Basis, Standard, Dynamic) and how the technologies can be optimised to deliver even more value to company

Be the technical platform owner (or delegate with the team) for Retained hardware and software environments

Responsible for ensuring that the team collaborate with all company Strategy & Architecture and Infrastructure Architecture and ITO Supplier teams to determine technology roadmaps and how technology optimisation should be implemented across the company IT estate

Principle Challenges:

Managing both ITO Suppliers and company application development suppliers and programmes to adhere to the company infrastructure design standards to maximise the service levels, speed of implementation and minimise the costs of deployment, testing and overall size and complexity of the company technology estate

Define and implement design governance within the IT supply chain members

Assist with the preparation and monitoring of budgets

Monitor design compliance with obligations in the agreements with ITO providers

Reconcile projected resource baseline with actual utilisation of resources in their teams

Authorises all work resulting in design or technology optimisation expenditures and ensures that all required AIB approvals are obtained

Output & Results:

Ensures that all applications and services developed for deployment within the ITO estate are aligned to the company design standards (from both Business and Supplier driven projects)

Ensures that a framework for Development Operations' is created, governed and implemented to support existing application development techniques and the proposed utilisation of continuous delivery ' techniques

Ensure that the requirements of company strategy and architecture and the company Business as a whole are reflected in the infrastructure designs and end-to-end telemetry.

Ensure that any requirements from new company BPO providers is impacted, assessed and integrated into the overall design standards and telemetry requirements without compromising any key standards or principles.

Ensures that a framework for technology optimisation is created and implemented within company and the Supply Chain

Ensure that the requirements of company strategy and architecture and the company Business as a whole are reflected in optimisation plan and roadmap

Relevant experience and qualifications required:

Comprehensive knowledge (10+ years) of the technical tower/domains in scope, with specific knowledge of Mainframe and midrange (Unix/wintel), storage and Network technologies

Knowledge of business environment, service requirements and culture

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a technical discipline
