Senior Java Developer - Edinburgh

A growing technology firm is seeking an experienced Java developer to help develop a cutting-edge application for viewing and organising multimedia information.

You will be responsible for developing the application as part of a team of developers, taking responsibility for implementing a range of new features, as well as improving the architecture, performance and scalability of the existing product.

Essential Skills required include

*In depth knowledge of core Java

*Experience with complex, high performance, multithreaded, state-driven systems.

*Excellent problem solving skills and ability to reason about complex software.

*Experience with relational databases.

*Experience with Hibernate/JPA or similar ORM technology *Good understanding of software architecture *Strong communication skills to interface with stakeholders and interact in standups, etc.

Desirable Experience include

*Experience with PostgresSQL

*Experience writing in non-managed languages (e.g. C/C++) *Experience with distributed, fault-tolerant systems.

*Experience with JNI

*Experience with RMI

*Experience with Javascript, HTML

*Experience with performance analysis, profiling tools for Java and databases.

*Experience building scalable, high performance system *Experience with large scale storage systems/3rd party storage APIs.

*Experience with Java Web / message bus technologies.
