Project Manager
Wakefield- Boldons
The company
To optimise performance through the effective management of High Voltage Electrical Substation projects from scope of work to close out and final completion. The Project Manager is required to manage multiple substation projects that may be at different stages to ensure timely delivery whilst minimising any potential health and safety risks.
Required Experience
-At least five year's experience in a customer facing project management role working on high voltage substations.
-A thorough understanding of CDM and how it may impact on a project.
-Able to demonstrate a firm understanding of the key technical elements and functions of substation equipment.
-Able to demonstrate good financial and commercial awareness and experience of managing contract change
Accountabilities:
-Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures of Freedom and its customers
-Manage multiple and/or major projects safely, competently, and effectively to time and budget.
-Manage all financial aspects of projects.
-Ensure extra works are costed and invoiced.
-Provide cost value reconciliation for projects/contracts.
-Ensure all sub-contracts are approved in line with Freedom's company policies.
-Ensure project meets all current legislation HASAWA, NRSWA C.O.S.H.H. etc.
-Assist in costing schemes for quotation as required.
-Identify and inform Freedom Directors of commercial opportunities as appropriate.
-Review and monitor programme schedule using Project Management tools.
Health and Safety
Implement Freedom's, and customers, safety rules, instructions, standing orders and procedures.
Prepare project safety and CDM plans and Risk Assessments as part of overall programme.
Actively monitor teams within your line management responsibility (under LQP.407).
Ensure Risk Assessments are carried out at all stages of a project (design, planning, generic and Daily On Site).
Ensure that all statutory records, certificates, licenses, notifications and notices are in place.
Conduct site safety inspections and complete associated paperwork.
Ensure that accidents and near misses and suitably reported, recorded and investigated and that remedial action is carried out promptly.
Report any concerns regarding SHE to the SHE team and your Regional Manager.
Planning and organising
Take overview of projects to be completed and allocate resources accordingly.
Plan for outages: assess loads, prepare contingency plans schedule switching/permitting
Timetable activities within projects including provision of dates to S.A.P. engineers for projects.
Liaise with customer to manage critical dates.
Quality
Implement Freedom's approach to Quality in all you do and complete all work to high standards.
Identify and implement areas of improvement in Freedom's processes and operations.
Insure working practices and processes are followed.
Essential Skills
-Safety Qualification (minimum IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS, ideally NEBOSH certificate or equivalent)
-Qualification in Project Management (In-house, APM or PRINCE2)
-Electrical qualification required, HNC equivalent as minimum. Ideally Degree qualified, a member of an industry institute being on route or achieved chartered status.
Remuneration:
-Salary up to £55,00
