Systems Acceptance Manager - Defence / Navy

This is an immediate requirement for a Systems Acceptance Manager or Integration, Verification and Validation Manager with Naval Systems experience.

A great opportunity has arisen for a Acceptance Manager to work for a leading Defence in the Southampton area. This Acceptance Manager will be working on a number of new Naval Communication Systems being developed for the next generation of Naval vessels.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the integration and test of Naval Combat / Communication Systems.

Although based in Southampton, this role is commutable from Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Winchester and Basingstoke.

JOB DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities for this Acceptance Manager role

- Overall responsibility for efficient and timely implementation of the integration, verification and validation activity under the approval of the project Engineering Authority and Engineering Manager

- Specification and management of the integration and acceptance test facility including build states maintenance

- Management of the system integration and acceptance activities including:

- generation of plans, procedures, schedules, reports

- conduct of integration and acceptance tests

- management of test failures and observations

- specification and management of test equipment

- presentation of evidence internally and to customer

- Coordination of subsystem integration and acceptance activities carried out by subsystem suppliers including reviews of test documentation and results

- Coordination of verification and validation data and evidence from suppliers of COTS/MOTS equipment

- Coordinate the required equipment qualification testing including EMC, Environmental and TEMPEST testing to meet customer requirement

- Participation in customer test and acceptance reviews and working groups meetings

- Make acceptance related decisions and mitigate acceptance risk within responsibility

- Provide a leadership and assistance to other integration and test engineers as required

Requirements for this Acceptance Manager role

Essential:

At least 8 years system engineering experience in communications systems with proven successes in test and acceptance roles

Typically meets the requirements for registration to a professional body or has degree level relevant qualification

Broad experience of majority of engineering lifecycle phases

Broad knowledge of tools and processes used in the design, development and acceptance of products

Desirable:

- Use of DOORs in requirements management

- Experience of managing customer Factory Acceptance Tests and Trials

- Experience in wider telecoms applications e.g. telephony, intercom, wireless, audio-visual, voice and data communications

- Experience in TCP/IP networking, VOIP and COTS (via SNMP) management of communications equipment

- Experience in tactical military communications and particularly naval platform development, supply, installation, setting to work including security and/or ILS aspects

- 'Hands on' configuration, operation and testing of COTS networking and management products (e.g. CISCO, Solar Winds)

Due to the nature of the work at this site, applicants must be capable of achieving SC level UK security clearance. Current clearance is not a requirement.
