SCOM Specialist/Engineer - London

Salary 45-55k basic plus 7% flexible fund and core benefits on top

The Infrastructure Services team provides services which underpin the IT systems, providing Fabric Infrastructure, Communications, Security, and Core applications in its service catalogue.

The IT Security - Systems Management Team has a position for a 3rd line IT Technician with strong System Centre Operations Manager skills. This is an opportunity to join a strong, professional team supporting the Systems Management toolset for Infrastructure Services.

Detailed Description

A technical specialist role exists to join an experienced team providing 3rd line support of the Systems Management toolset. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing and developing the SCOM 2012 environment, offering advice and guidance to system users as well as working with application teams to develop custom Management Packs. The successful candidate will also have involvement in projects delivering improvements to our service delivery, including moving towards a service based model for infrastructure delivery.

* Develop custom application Management Packs to meet customer requirements

* Development and maintenance of automated application / service delivery

* Managing the SCOM environment

* Investigation and support of live issues

* Working within the ITIL framework

Essential Skills required:

Technical

* Microsoft System Center 2012 Operations Manager configuration and administration

* Advanced SCOM Management Pack authoring:

o Authoring Console

o XML authoring with Visual Studio

* Strong cross platform (Linux) monitoring experience

* SQL Server experience including creation of custom reports

* Windows 2012 Server administration

General

* Strong systems analysis experience

* Service orientated customer facing skills

* Experience of successfully working with project teams and to project deadline

* Excellent interpersonal skills

* Excellent documentation skills

* Effective Time Management

* SCOM 2007 - 2012 migration experience

* System Center 2012 Orchestrator experience

* Savision Live Maps design experience

* Powershell scripting

* System Center 2012 Configuration Manager experience

* Knowledge of Xmatters Notification engine

* ITIL v3 Foundation
