Progressive Global Energy has been tasked with sourcing an Offshore Materials Corrosion Engineer to work on a permanent basis with one of our key clients.

You will be a member of the Offshore Materials and Corrosion team, concentrating on the inspection, assessment, investigation and enforcement of integrity issues relating to corrosion and materials on UK Offshore Installations.

Using your specialist knowledge, you will:

* Provide expert advice on health and safety matters associated with the specialist topics of materials and corrosion within HSE, industry and other stakeholders

* Carry out inspections of offshore oil and gas installations;

* Investigate incidents, accidents and complaints alone or as part of a team;

* Support enforcement action, including the preparing technical reports and expert evidence in legal proceedings;

Essential criteria:

* A degree or equivalent qualification in Metallurgy, Materials Science/Engineering, or closely related subject;

* Chartered status with the Engineering Council, accompanied by Corporate membership of an appropriate professional institution;

* Substantial post graduate engineering experience in an operational environment within the offshore oil and gas industry. Alternatively, relevant experience in a similar major hazard industry may be considered;

* Knowledge and understanding of:

* the key corrosion and degradation processes affecting the integrity of pipework, vessels and topsides plant offshore;

* materials selection affecting the safe design of pipework, vessels and topsides plant offshore;

* Knowledge and understanding of integrity management of high hazard plant;

* Knowledge and experience of relevant engineering codes and standards;

* Knowledge and understanding of inspection techniques including NDT;
