IT Systems Engineer
You are expected to be an active member of the Systems Support department in the Edinburgh office, you must hit the ground running but with support from each and every employee of the company.
Core responsibilities:
Supporting IT Infrastructure.
Creation of documentation for processes and training materials.
Solving complex problems involving scalability, concurrency, and consistency and providing pragmatic solutions.
Offering guidance and recommendations for technical decision making.
Implementing best practices and encourage others to follow your example.
Collaborating with the Systems Support team to validate and verify quality of solutions.
Working with business analysts to develop project implementation and develop plans including user interfaces.
Leading brainstorming sessions on project requirements to review and assist in designing the application in line with quality standards.
Documenting and demonstrating solutions by developing presentations, flowcharts and diagrams.
Continuing commitment to a quality approach to software development by keeping track of the latest technology and design concepts.
Conducting formal training and knowledge transfer sessions to new team members.
Preparing weekly status report and updating Global IT Systems Manager
Skills and experience required:
Windows Server infrastructure services (Active Directory/DFS / DNS / Group Policy).
Microsoft Exchange 2010/2013 / administration/installation/support knowledge.
Backup/Restore/Disaster Recovery experience.
Network Knowledge / IPv4, IPv6, VPN, Firewalls, Routing.
Experience/Knowledge of supporting Team Foundation Server.
Hyper/V Technology Experience.
Experience of Windows Desktop OS / XP/7/8/8.1
Experience of Windows Server OS / 2008/2012/2012 R2.
CISCO/HP Networking.
Has to be willing to be on/call out of hours for business needs.
Ability to communicate with colleagues at different levels of management and technical skill.
Possess relevant Microsoft Qualification.
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential and other languages are a welcome advantage.
