An exciting opportunity has arisen at our client's brand new Glasgow Recycling & Renewable Energy Centre for a Mechanical Technician, to provide a comprehensive repair and maintenance service for all on-site Mechanical equipment, providing support to other dedicated teams where necessary.

Mechanical Technician - Recycling & Renewable Energy Centre

Our client is looking for someone with experience in mechanical engineering from within a process or power plant environment, along with experience of working with computerised Maintenance Management systems.

The ideal candidate will possess an appropriate technical qualification such as a City & Guilds / NVQ (or equivalent), including a recognised trade specific apprenticeship.

It is highly desirable to have experience in working with Safe Systems of Work (PTW), or to hold a recognised Health & Safety qualification, though not essential.

Duties include, but not limited to:

- Responsibility for carrying out planned and unplanned maintenance activities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Glasgow RREC.

- Ensuring maintenance plans and targets are achieved safely, economically and within the environmental limits of the plant.

- Carrying out fault diagnosis and rectifying as required, alongside conducting plant inspections and area safety inspections.

- Ensuring that all reporting within the Computerised Maintenance Management System is effective and followed through to completion promptly.

Skills / Experience:

- Understanding of Environmental and H&S issues and their impacts.

- Experience in Mechanical engineering of process industry or power plant environment.

- Experience of working with Computerised Maintenance Management systems

- To hold an appropriate technical qualification City & Guilds / NVQ (or equivalent), including a recognised trade specific apprenticeship.

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
