Chief Technical Architect - London - JAVA PHP .Net
The Chief Technical Architect will lead the technical strategy and architecture for all the clients technology: for platforms (both infrastructure and applications), for secure deployment and 24/7 operations.
The Chief Technical Architect reports to the Director General Technology. This role can be based in London, Warrington or Leeds with frequent travel.
Person Specification
- Subject matter expert with deep expertise - a true technologist who has the drive to define the future of technology systems.
- Exceptional track record of technology leadership and delivery as CTA in a high volume and fast paced environment
- Track record of integrating and simplifying complex, legacy/current architecture for a large, complex, multi-divisional Enterprise
- Proven ability to design user experiences and deliver web-based services/APIs with hands-on expertise in either Java, PHP, Python, Ruby, .NET or JavaScript with server-side
- Experience with UNIX/Linux infrastructure. Delivery experience including: mobile and online apps, open source ESB, RESTful APIs, Big Data analytics and visualisation, data warehouses, converged networks, unified communications, secure development, virtualisation, cloud computing and deploying Infrastructure as Code
- Recognised for leading a team of exceptional architects respected for their ability to: initiate ideas, prototype solutions, create executable blueprints delivered iteratively in agile/dev-ops operating models.
- The credibility to build influence at the most senior levels of the client and Government. Ability to build relationships with start-ups as part of wider industry initiatives as well as build senior executive relationships with leading technology providers.

Our IT systems support 90,000 users across 950 sites, we respond to 420,000 incidents annually and manage 3,500 servers which are used in the delivery of 330+ line of business applications. In 2014, we will have supported 155 critical business solutions and processed 10,000 changes on the IT estate.
UK Wide travel to client sites will be required
