TEST MANAGER

PERMANENT POSITION AVAILABLE IN LONDON/CROYDON/READING

Salary from GBP 43000 to GBP 45000 (including allowances) plus pension and 26 days holiday

A large government department is recruiting for skilled IT professionals to join their delivery teams. The team supports the delivery of strategically important programmes deploying varying technologies, some of which are leading edge. Their aim is to deliver high quality, value for money customer side testing services. Due to the recent success of delivering shared testing services across Government additional test professionals are required to support delivery.

Please note: You will need to undergo SC Clearance for these opportunities, please only apply if you are either a British Citizen or hold ILR status and have been living in the UK for the past 5 years.

Essential Skills

* Proven experience of successful test management and test design or test assurance across complex projects, preferably with a Test Analyst background

* Strong stakeholder management skills able to communicate across delivery teams and business representatives

* Experience of Testing or Software development methods and their practical application

* The ability to produce concise and objective summaries of complex information

* Good verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills

* Ability to deliver under pressure and to tight timescales

* Self/starter with the ability to show initiative and work with minimal supervision

Desirable Skills

* Experience of managing a team of IT specialists and working with third party IT Service Providers

* ISEB/ISTQB Software Testing Accreditation

* Knowledge of PPM methodologies (Prince2)

Key Responsibilities

* Ensure the test work is planned for assigned projects, including timescales, test scope, resources and environmental (technical) requirements. Ensure test scenarios are created, planned, scripted and results are reviewed, for the Business Process (or User Acceptance) test phases

* Overseas the management of the execution of tests

* Understand and translate business processes and requirements into documentation that describe test procedures, test data and expected outcomes

* Manage the interfaces between customers, suppliers and project teams in readiness for user acceptance testing

* Produce test plans and test completion reports

* Track and manage observations, arising from the test execution, through to resolution, including chairing fault review boards

* Assist in continually enhancing testing process and standards

* Participate in peer to peer reviews of test products

* Manage and develop staff to improve business performance and build staff potential
