Risk Manager

Our client; a telecommunications giant, is looking for a Risk Manager to join their team in Swindon on an initial 5 month basis.

Job Description

Reporting to the PMO Manager and working closely with other members of the programme team, the role holder is responsible for the identification, capture, analysis and management of risks, issues and opportunities relating to delivery of the project. The Risk Manager will support the Transition Manager in ensuring the client and customer programme risks are controlled and reported upon both within the client and the customers organisation. This will be achieved using Active Risk Manager (ARM) as the customers preferred delivery tool.

The role holder must have developed communication and diplomacy skills with a strong ability to persuade and influence client and stakeholder relationships. The Risk Manager is specifically accountable for ensuring that risks are contained to an acceptable level, defining how the Risk Management procedure should be tailored and any supporting systems configured.

Key Responsibilities

* Ensure all team members are briefed on and familiar with how risks are to be managed;

* Ensure that stakeholders are engaged (identification of their risks) and kept informed;

* Ensure Risk Management is being effectively implemented on a day/to/day basis throughout the programme and any sub/domains or 3rd party organisations, liaising with 3rd party suppliers in order to do this;

* Notify sub/domain managers of any external risks and relevant business context;

* Provide feedback to Risk Owners on progress being made to resolve the risks that have been escalated to this level;

* Ensure that relevant domain risks are presented to the appropriate risk management meeting/board for review;

* Ensure that high impacting risks have detailed mitigation / contingency plans in place to manage them;

* Ensure that high impacting risks have been financially assessed and that budget is available to manage them;

* Ensure high impacting risks are linked to key delivery milestones / tasks on the relevant plans;

* Approve individual risk closures.

Skills and Experience

* Experience with major service contracts, ideally in the Defence sector, but alternatively within other government areas.

* The ideal candidate will hold valid / be eligible for SC clearance

Qualifications

* PRINCE2 (essential)

* MS Project experienced user (essential)

* ARM experienced user (essential)

* ITIL v3 experience (desirable)
