The survey is delivered on an extraordinary scale, and involves every resident across England and Wales. The data captured then assists the government in making key decisions, as well as businesses and the general public. Since the last census in 2011, digital has transformed the way we live and work. In 2021, it’s estimated a significant amount of census information will be completed online. Working collaboratively with Programme Project Managers and key stakeholders, you’ll offer project management advice and support to Census projects and across the Census Programme Office. You’ll also be continuously looking for ways to improve the Programme Management Office, by reviewing and strengthening processes to ensure that the programme and all related work moves forward as efficiently as possible. The Census is a unique and hugely important programme, and in this dynamic and diverse role, your support and expertise will be integral to its progression towards 2021.

About you

A confident communicator, you’ve strong people management skills and are able to work efficiently using your initiative. With a wealth of experience as a Programme Management Officer, you’re background could be diverse, but most importantly you’re able to pick things up quickly, make effective decisions and look towards the bigger picture. You’ll also have a recognised programme, project management or support qualification, with at least one year’s experience in a support or management role.
