This is an exciting new opportunity to work on successful and award winning products within an Agile development organisation in a growing, dynamic software company.
The Database/ MySQL Analyst will be part of a team working on projects that maintains and improves performance, availability and scalability of a number of existing and new products. These projects are medium to long term, driven by a customer facing technical roadmap and critical to the long term success of the organisation.
You will work in a highly collaborative environment where everyone is encouraged to understand and learn all areas of the system. The successful candidate will have a real say in how systems are developed and gain exposure to a diverse range of technologies.
As a Database Systems Analyst you will have a significant role during the planning, design and implementation of projects. Given your own technical ability and experience you will play a vital part in ensuring that the projects are delivered to a high technical standard and level of quality.
Current MySQL setup generates 80,000 queries per second and has 500 Gig table sizes.
Required Skills:
Thorough in depth knowledge of MySQL, other 'object oriented database management systems' (OODBMS), and 'relational database management systems' (RDBMS) - Analysis, Deployment and Maintenance.
MySQL C API and Engine level exposure
Understanding of structured query language (SQL)
NoSQL installations (Mongo, AWS DynamoDB, etc.)
Strong analytical and organisational skills
Liaising with developers, applications/operational staff, IT PM and other technical staff
Providing user training, support and feedback
Extensive experience working in database administration and infrastructure
Highly Desirable skills:
Exposure/participation in Open Source projects
Programming languages (Java, PHP, C/C++)
Advanced Linux skills
Clouds (Amazon WS)
Occasional travel
