Enigma People Solutions is recruiting for a Systems Developer (PHP) for our market leading client. Our client, with 10 Datacentres, is one of the UK’s largest providers of Managed Hosted Services, Collocation and Cloud solutions to SMEs, large private and public sector clients alike.

You will join an active group of dedicated in-house developers writing the web applications that hold the company, and over 100,000 servers, together. The right candidate will do everything from back-end automation to front-end, customer facing, websites & tools. Mostly written in PHP.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as the lead on new projects

Continual improvement of existing systems for new features & bug fixes

Take requirements from stakeholders to produce designs, proof of concepts, and completed systems

Identify and suggest improvements to existing tools, systems and processes

Identify emerging technologies and understand how to best utilise them for the business

Personal Specification:

Self-motivation, a love for code, and a desire to keep learning

Project & Time self-management

Object Oriented Design with awareness of patterns like MVC

SQL querying and database design / normalisation

Professional or Open Source development experience

Education:

BSc in Computer Science or related discipline / equivalent professional experience

Knowledge of:

Modern-day PHP (>=5.3) experience

Modern-day HTML, CSS, JS experience

Version control in a team environment

Extra skills in any/all areas of the full LAMP web stack

Tech Skills:

RedHat, Apache, PHP5, MySQL, Redis, Git, JQuery, AngularJS, Gearman

Flexibility is required of all job holders to adjust responsibilities as required from time to time

by their Line Manager/Divisional Director.

This role is also available in Edinburgh and Reading.
