The Client:

My client is a Top 10 main contractor with a prominence across most factions of the construction market. Established on the continent, they won their first British project over two decades ago, after acquiring a large British engineering firm. Since then, they have gone from strength to strength and acquired another of Britain's leading engineering contractors, which has further cemented their foothold in the UK market. Within the civil engineering sector, which this role falls within, they focus heavily on the rail, tunnelling and highways sectors, winning projects throughout the UK valuing far in excess of £250m. This specific project is a large Crossrail project based between West and Central London totalling £150m in value. Due to the size of the project, they require a Senior Planner to assist in the delivery of the project.

The Opportunity:

The Senior Planner will be working across the Western Section of the project. This £150m project encompasses all elements of rail across 35 miles giving the Senior Planner substantial industry exposure as well as a candid opportunity to progress within one of the most illustrious and sought-after contractors in the market today.

The role of the Senior Planner will involve:

* Managing the planning, programming and progress control of the project

* Overlooking the provision of expertise and systems for the project

* Liaising with clients, subcontractors and suppliers

* Present reports on programme and progress of all aspects of the project

* Assisting in the management of change

* Preparing comprehensive site layouts and presentations

* Working collaboratively and openly with the project team

* Assisting the Planning Manager in the delivery of the programme using Primavera P6

The Requirements:

The ideal Senior Planner will have the following:

* At least 8 years industry experience

* A minimum of 2 years planning experience within rail

* Infrastructure related experience is essential

* Knowledge and proficiency of Primavera P6 is essential

* Knowledge of NEC Form of Contract

* A construction or engineering based degree

* A minimum of 3 years UK experience in the past 5 years

* Strong industry references

The Remuneration:

Salary is negotiable; depending on experience, package includes a minimum of £5,000 car allowance, a £1,500 flexi-pot, a pension of up to 8% and health benefits.
